2019 could not have looked more different than 2018 if tried to and yet, in many ways, it was also a mirror image of the previous year.

Spoiler alert, this has nothing to do with the “Avengers End Game”, which is now the highest grossing film in history, recently surpassing Avatar. Both franchises are now Disney properties and I may have more to write on this in the future.

Which Way will the Flower Blow?

Around 2011, a representative from the Venezuelan Embassy gave a talk to my Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of West Ottawa, and it really stuck with me. During the presentation, she went through the aggressive socialist agenda of the Hugo Chavez government. This included many programs that would provide price controls, health care, and education for the Venezuelan people.

High Expectations

In a recent interview with CNBC, after releasing the Berkshire annual report, Warren Buffet was quoted as saying:

Over the last decade, global markets have been thrown into chaotic, disruptive, but beneficial upheaval as the new giants of the world grew up. In this I am referring to what were coined the BRIC economies by Goldman Sachs: Brazil, Russia, India and China.
